About Us - History
The club was founded in September 1977. The newly opened community centre had a fully equipped darkroom built in, and after failing to attract enough support to run a class, the community education workers approached five interested members of the public to form a club. Of those five founder members two are still active in the club today, 30 years on. The club grew quickly in size on the back of the SLR camera boom in the 70s and 80s. This has again been consolidated in the past decade with the advent of digital photography. Carluke Camera Club has embraced the new technology and are fortunate to have in their ranks several experts in this field.
